William Holman Hunt.  The Scapegoat (oil on canvas), 1854.
Lady Lever Art Gallery, Port Sunlight, Merseyside, England.

In Exodus we learn that the Mosaic Law forms the moral and ethical foundation for living in a covenant relationship with God and with one another.  We also learn that the Tabernacle built in the second half of Exodus provides the Israelites intimate access to God.

In Leviticus we learn what to do with the Tabernacle.  That’s important, for the New Testament book of Hebrews states that the Exodus Tabernacle is but a “copy and shadow” of the genuine Tabernacle in heaven, and as the High Priest Aaron ministers at the earthly Tabernacle on behalf of the Israelites, so does Christ minister at the heavenly Tabernacle on our behalf giving us intimate access to God.

Few people have read Leviticus and even fewer have studied it . . . but we will, and we’ll do so through the lens of Hebrews.  This promises to be a unique and fascinating course!
